About Me

Meditation has been a gift in my life, a tool in my life for over twenty-five years. I was inspired to teach meditation, and this inspiration comes from a place deep within me where I can reflect on how a technique that goes by many names, helped shift my life.

I often joke with my friends, that I had my first midlife crisis at age 25. It was at the start of my adult life and career that I found myself seriously pondering the purpose of our lives. As I looked around, it seemed pretty scripted, and the thought of a life of tedium and boredom was unnerving. I had one of those talks that a daughter has with her mom, and I decided to change my life. I didn’t want to “settle” and decided to quit my job, end my engagement and relocate. This decision launched my personal and professional journey.

On a professional level, life was progressing well. I found myself in good companies with growth and opportunities to advance. I worked hard and kept my nose to the grindstone. I received awards and accolades, so at that moment I felt a sense of accomplishment. However, there was a nagging voice that continued to wonder about the deeper meaning and purpose of my life.

Journey to Self-Discovery

At the age of 32, I became the matriarch of my family as both of my parents passed in rapid succession. I felt the weight of being supportive to my family while going to graduate school and working in an intensely competitive corporate environment. On the outside, I wore a smile, while inside I was grieving the loss of my parents and still wondering about the point of it all. I sought inner peace and calm, and was inspired to try meditation.

Being an avid reader, I found myself attracted to books on personal growth, spirituality, self-actualization and the works. Authors like Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra and a host of others illustrated that miraculous things occurred in their lives as they embraced a set of behaviors labeled mindfulness, sitting still or meditation. Silencing the mind and going to a place of inner peace sounded so appealing that I decided to sign up for meditation classes in the early 90’s.

Meditation became my tool for managing stress, and creating the internal space and calm where I gradually learned to quiet that internal dialogue which leaned toward judgment, fear, and scarcity. The practice opened other portals that ultimately expanded my understanding of myself and others. Over the years my meditation practice morphed with various techniques and approaches. Each technique was perfect at that point in time because it taught me to slow my mind and connect with a place of peace and calm.

Harnessing the Tools

How did the qualities of meditation show up in my life?

  • I’d walk into a meeting and could quickly assess the vibe in the room because I was clear and I see beyond the five senses.
  • During the day I might struggle with contents of a presentation, problem or issue. Post meditation, I often found clarity and solutions previously not imagined.
  • Stress didn’t disappear, but my perception of stressful situations changed.
  • My level of intuition increased to a place where I could operate from the flow, making the right choices and moves that enhanced my life.
  • Synchronicities became a regular part of my life.

Do I sound passionate about the power of meditation? I am. I’ve shared my personal story, but there is ever increasing medical research that references the physiological benefits of meditation.

Certified to Help You

In 2016, I attended the Chopra Institute’s “Seduction of Spirit” workshop. I was captivated as Dr. Deepak Chopra, co-founder of the Chopra Institute, often described meditation as a tool. I had a eureka moment as I realized that meditation had been my tool, and I was inspired to take the message and tool to others. I know that so many people are suffering with anxiety and stress, and I wanted to offer information to those in my circle and beyond. I took the plunge and became a Certified Primordial Sound Meditation Instructor through the Chopra Institute. In summary, Primordial Sound Meditation is a mantra-based technique that’s derived from ancient traditions. My approach is customized to each student, and I encourage you to contact me to learn more.
